Nestled in the foundry shopping plaza in Barrington, Illinois lies Ambrosia Euro-American Patisserie, owned and operated for 34 years. We proudly honor this artisan craft by producing a daily fresh selection of gourmet cakes & pastries, baked goods, and beverages. We invite you to enjoy these inside the patisserie, alfresco on our beautiful patio, or to take out with you.

Bakery

We serve a wonderful selection of artisan crafted croissants, made with real French butter, baked fresh every morning. We have an Italian Rancillo espresso machine to create European-inspired crafted espresso drinks.

Pastry

Miniature pastries are versatile; whether you are dropping off a gift to a neighbor, providing sweet bite-size treats for a wedding or event, or you just need a sweet treat on your way home from work, these are small portions of perfection.

Seasonal Cakes

We use the highest quality ingredients, along with craftsman techniques to create European styled cakes, and are artistically decorated. These cakes are made to be an elegant and unique centerpiece for any and all occasions.

Our History

Ambrosia’s doors opened in 1989, at the hands of husband-wife founders, Chef Richard Rivera and Deborah Rivera. They have owned and operated this family-owned establishment for 33 years, creating a staple in Barrington. They deeply valued providing their customers with the highest standards of hospitality, and highest quality and artisanal crafted foods. After sadly losing Chef Richard in 2016, Deborah ran the business herself until 2022, where she sold the business to three loyal employees. We, those three employees, are deeply honored to be the ones to continue this legacy, and our loyalty remains to them, our employees, and to our customers, as we strive to continue these practices and standards Deb & Richard taught us.
